The new Pro Tech Toolkit is the one thing every DIYer, fixer, hacker, hobbyist, and professional needs to tackle any job. Necessity is the mother of invention-and we invented the Pro Tech Toolkit to have the right precision tool to get you out of any tight spot. Armed with the data from hundreds of teardowns and thousands of repair guides, our teardown technicians were able to curate the most capable compact toolkit. We’ve got a pulse on how electronics are held together. On top of how great this kit is, if you ever decide to follow any of ifixit’s videos or instruction guides (which I are super useful and we also highly recommend), you’ll have all of the exact same tools they're using. These are one of the most well crafted hand tools we've ever used.īottom line is this is a must-have for anyone who works on their own computer, wants to fix a cell phone, game console, or anyone who is a tinkerer in general. We are particularly fond of the nylon tipped reverse tweezers. The small plastic pry tools are beautifully made and with those you will be able to open pretty much any smart phone or tablet. The other items in the kit are all high grade. This means you can manipulate very fine parts in difficult to reach spots with lots of precision and torque. Finally the spindle on top is mounted on a bearing instead of being pressed over a flange so the spinning action is consistent and smooth. Combine this with the flex extension and the tool can reach almost anywhere. That's definitely not going to happen here. We've used other small electronics screwdrivers in the past and the number one problem we've found is that too much torque will break the handle. Seriously, we're in awe!Īlong with your standard philips and flat head, there are hex drivers, pentalobe, torx, and other difficult to find various bits. For the rest of us this means this steel is a type of CR-V steel, generally used for knives and swords. For the geeks here's the breakdown of the contents of this steel: 0.5% C, 0.8% Mn, 0.9% Cr, 0.18% V. The driver, along with the included bits are superb quality. The steel used for the bits is 6150. The included magnetic work-mat is super useful. When the canvas wrap is unrolled everything is laid out perfectly and ready to go. it folds up nicely into a compact package and will likely last just as long as the tools inside. As far as toolkits go, this is hands down the best electronics toolkit on the market.
